I lived this story.
Drinking every day. Burning out. Performing. Grinding. Running from an empty place inside myself I didn't have a name for yet.
Then the floor disappeared.
Nothing made sense. I couldn't move. The weight of everything I would been outrunning landed on me at once, like the darkest night I would ever sit in. Parts of me wanted to disappear completely.
I chose to live.
Like it was the last thing I would ever do, I stopped. I turned around. I faced what I would been avoiding my entire life.
I was exhausted. Out of options. Afraid of what would happen if I told the truth. Isolated in my own tower of resentment, blaming everyone, the world, my woman, my family, the system.
I chose a new path. I stopped telling myself the stories that seemed convincingly true and started to write my own story.
I did this work with the support of many incredible men, men who were stepping up to meet their own challenges, teachers, guides, men's programs and groups that support me to this day.
That decision changed my life. I still face challenges every day. But my vision is clear. My heart is full. I'm grateful for my life. All of it.
Shame they inherited and never asked for. Anger they never let themselves name. A version of themselves they built just to survive what they were handed.
I watch them stop running. Let go of the stories. Let themselves be seen, pain and glory, no editing.
The man on the other side of that is not fixed.
He is free.
